Customs officials  & Scanning the contents of lorries and trucks

Is it possible for customs officials to search the contents of each of the 4 500 lorries that cross the borders between france, italy and britain?.  Technology is now making the search for drugs, wines and illegal passengers in trucks crossing these borders in real time possible. This is a scanner that can be installed in 30 minutes and can detect drugs and illegal passengers as they cross the border.

Pfizer works and technology

Pfizer works and technology

Technology is now been used by companies to pass off tasks that are not relevant to the core activities of a company (such as getting information, general business duties and research)  to freelancers. With the aid of an online form a request can be e-mailed to external service providers such as Genpact or the  Pear interactive network. A company like Pfizer has been able to save over 66 000 hours and improved corporate performance on this method of how to use technology.

Alfresco

We know the importance of collaboration tools in the corporate place and one company has been able to put together a package with document and content management capabilities. This is an open source software but I believe that once a company can past the hosting and installation hurdles this will be a major development for content designers. For the practical part, just point your browser to the url and view the list of early adopters.

A digital village

An african village joins the global communication network

You may not be aware of the Entasopia community center in Kenya but technology has been able to put this sleepy rural area on the digital map and this is how it was done:

with a VSAT- ( very small aperture terminal)

a satellite dish

a solar panel

routers,  servers

computers and

the purchase of bandwidth at the rate of €700 a month from a provider.
The partners in this initiative are O3b, an internet start and Inveneo, a not for profit group working on getting africa connnected to the global communication netwok.

La poste gets ahead

Get your stamps online

There is something like an IT passion in the management policy of the french postal service provider and I am basing my point on the following elements:

-long before the proliferation of cybercafés, it started the cyberpoint internet service by installing apple macintosh computers in some agencies as farback as 1997  I was one of the early users of this system that is now phased out.

-four or five year ago, it rolled out a package tracking service not to mention the advantage of its brokerage services  to retail investors and now the postal and banking services group is offering the opportunity to get your stamps online from this interface.
